Hanover, Germany – CEBIT 2018 ran from June 11-15th and was a huge success in Germany with Artificial Intelligence at the forefront of the Festival. Europe’s Business Festival for Innovation and Digitization had some big debuts from Huawei and Volkswagen amongst others.

Huawei introduced its Rhine Cloud platform to produce smart city applications. This framework will include more Wi-Fi Hotspots and traffic management to name a few. The first test city that will receive this innovative technology is Duisburg which is heavily populated, in hopes to further improve the economy. If the pilot goes as planned, Huawei anticipates the application trending through all Western Europe.

Volkswagen also made a big appearance by demonstrating a PoC with IOTA’s Tangle protocol for Autonomous vehicles. The new technology is a big step for the automotive industry which will facilitate secure over-the-air updating of the vehicle’s software by the way of blockchain.
